7 DAYS MT. KILIMANJARO- MARANGU ROUTE

Day 1. Depart Arusha and transfer to Capricon Hotel based at the foot of the mountain. Dinner and overnight at Capricon Hotel.
Day 2. Morning walk through the Kilimanjaro forest and spend your night at Mandara Hut. 2,700 metres above sea level.
Day 3. You start your trekking early in the morning up to Horombo Hut for dinner and overnight 3,720 metres above sea level.
Day 4. The whole trekking will take you up to Kibo hut for dinner and overnight 5,680 metres above sea level.
Day 5. For fit climbers, this day will be the final ascend to the summit before dawn, "THE UHURU PEAK" 5,895 metres above sea level. The night will be spent at Horombo Hut.
Day 6. Morning descend to Capricon Hotel where the afternoon will be at leisure. Dinner and overnight at Capricon Hotel.
Day 7. Drive back to Arusha.
 

Mount Kilimanjaro – Machame  Route
 
Day 1 Nairobi/ Moshi
Depart Nairobi by shuttle bus at 7.30am to arrive Namanga border town at 10.00hrs. After immigration formalities, drive to Arusha and continue to Moshi for dinner and overnight at extra cost.
 
Day 2 (About 6 hrs walking)
The drive fro Moshi to the Mount Kilimanjaro National park gate takes about 50 minutes. The journey passes through the village of Machame which is located on the lower slopes of the mountain. Once we reach the park gate, climbers are requested to make their preparations for the climb. Porter will be seen arranging their packs containing the food, water, firewood and other equipment. Make sure that you have all your daypack items with you as the porters travel very quickly. The guides will be pleased to assist with any additional information. We now leave the park gate and walk through the rain forest on a winding trail to the first uniport hut which is located at an altitude of (3, 048m) we continue a short distance until we reach altitude of 3,100
 
Day 3 (About 4 hrs walking)
After breakfast we leave the glades of the rain forest and continue on asceding path, crossing the little valley walking along a steep rocky ridge covered with heather until the ridge ends, the route now runs west onto a River Gorge at (3, 658m) time for rest, dinner and overnight at the Shire Hut campsite.
 
Day 4 (About 6 hrs walking)
From the shira plateau we continue to the east passing the junction, toward the peak of Kibo, as we continue our direction changes to southeast towards the lava tower, called “the shark’s thoot” shortly after the tower we come to the second junction which brings up to the arrow glacier, we have now reached an altitude of (4,876m) we now continue down to the Barranco hut at an altitude of (3,860m). Here we rest enjoy dinner and overnight.
 
Day 5 (About 8 hrs walking)
After breakfast we leave Barranco and continue on a steep ridge passing the Barranco wall passing through the Karanga valley and the junction, which connects with the Mweka trail. We continue to the Barafu hut, which is located at an altitude of (4, 600m). Here we make camp, rest, enjoy dinner and overnight
 
Day 6 (About 11 hours walking) the hardest day.
Early morning we continue our ascent to Stella point (5,745m) on our way to the summit (Uhuru peak) (5,985). This part of the climb takes about 6 hrs. We have now reached the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro and the highest point in Africa. From the summit we now make our descent continuing straight down to the Mweka hut campsite (3,100m) (This part of the descent takes about 5 hrs) Later in the evening we enjoy our last dinner on the mountain and a well earned sleep.
 
Day 7 (About 4 Hours walking)
After breakfast we continue the descent down to the Mweka park gate ad drive back to Moshi. Dinner and overnight at Springlands hotel.
 
Day 8 Moshi/Nairobi
Depart Moshi by shuttle bus for Nairobi to arrive in the late evening.

 

UMBWE ROUTE 7 Days 6 Nights

DAY 1: Board a shuttle bus from Nairobi airport or city centre at 0800 hrs and proceed to Arusha arriving at 1300hrs. Depart for Moshi at 1400hrs arriving at 1530hrs. Dinner and overnight at a hotel in Moshi.

Day 2: After breakfast drive to Kilimanjaro National Park gate at Umbwe for starting the climb. From here hike within the forest through a narrow ridge between Umbwe and Lonzo rivers reachin Bivouac No. 1 (known as Forest Caves at 2850m - Camp and overnight.

Day 3 The Path continues follwoing the ridge, then leaving the forest through open moorlands to reach Barranco Hut at 3950m. Camp oand overnight.

Day 4: This day stars off with a steep climb out of Barranco valley crossing Karanga Valley and finally reaching Barafu Hut at 4600m. Camp overnight.

Day 5: Early morning start to reach the crater rim at Stella point, continuing to Uhuru Peak at 5899m. Decend to Mweka Camp.

Day 6: The day is spent in descending down to the park Gates - Overnight at hotel.

Day 7: Board shuttle bus to Nairobi or start a Tanzania safari

8 DAYS SHIRA ROUTE; DOWN MWEKA

Day 1; Moshia/Shira hut

Leave hotel after breakfast to shira gate, all
the way driving. After we finish with the park gate,
start hiking to shira plateau for 4hrs, dinner and over
night in the camp.[3000m

Day 2; Shira plateau/Shira hut

Early hike will start after breakfast to shira
hut which is 5-6 hrs, lunch will be on the way.Dinner
and over night in the camp.[3700m]

Day 3; Shira hut/Lava tower

This day we will not start very early because the
hike is only for 3hrs. so we sleep at [4400m]
the camp is lava tower.

Day 4; Lava tower/Barranco

This is a very short day and as well is going down to
Baranco camp wich is [3800m] and this one will hellp
you very much for aclamatising for the summit.Dinner
and over night in the camp.

Day 5; Barranco/Karanga valley

After breakfast, we face the breakfast wall, on
our way to Karanga vallery for lunch, dinner and over
night.[3900m]

Day 6; Karanga valley/Barafu

Because we have problem of the water in the other
camp, we have to carry water all the way from
Karanga vallery, by this, lunch is on route.Dinner and
over night in Barafu camp.[4600m]
In this camp we arrange our gears for the summit. We
start hiking for the summit at mid night, so we wake
up at 11.00pm.We will be in the Uhuru peak at 6.30am.

Day 7; Barafu /mweka hut

After breakfast at Barafu camp decend to Mweka
camp for dinner and over night.

Day 8; Mweka hut/Mweka gate

We take breakfast at 8.30am and then walk down to
Mweka gate, then cash our transport to moshi or your
destination.
